Home Visiting

Home visiting provides stabilizing support for families experiencing high-risk factors where they are most comfortable, at home and in their communities. Home visiting is a proven strategy for giving families the best start and positioning them for long-term sustainability.

The early years of life matter because early experiences affect the architecture of the brain. The quality of that architecture establishes a foundation for all development and behavior that follows. When children experience poverty, neglect, or abuse, the brain’s architecture is damaged, which increases the probability of poor outcomes. The lack of consistent supportive relationships along with the prolonged exposure to toxic stress leads to lifelong problems in learning, behavior, and both physical and mental health.

During the first three years of life, a positive, healthy relationship with a parent or caregiver is the most important factor for successfully wiring the brain architecture, achieving optimal child development milestones, and minimizing the effects of toxic stress.

At Lifetrack, home visitors provide:

  • Methods for parents and caregivers to develop a secure attachment with their children;
  • Strategies to support children’s physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development;
  • Opportunities to meet other families to reduce isolation and build a resource network;
  • Connections to community resources.

With a solid foundation early in life, children will do well in school, and develop into healthy, well-adjusted adult who invests and give back to our communities.
